Our Newborn Session with Only Love Remains Photography

Newborn and family photos… the thought of getting your new baby, toddler and/or other siblings ready for a photoshoot always overwhelms me. What are we going to wear? Will they have a tantrum doing the photo shoot? What if my toddler doesn’t participate? How am I going to get ready? How do I convince my husband to partake in them?! What will he wear? Will I have time to get the little ones ready and myself? Argh!! The questions that go on in my heads are endless! Maybe I’m a little neurotic?

When we arrived at Isabel’s studio the environment instantly put me at ease. We were welcomed with a warm smile and wave, along with the sweetest board sign reading ‘Welcome Baby James’. That itself made my heart smile.

Olivia immediately ran to the play kitchen, which occupied her while I got my make up done. She had everything from books, coloring books, toys and the play kitchen to choose from. She became a very busy little 19 month old!

While I got my makeup done, Isabel took Baby James and started shooting him. It was the perfect way to utilize time since we all know that toddlers (and some babies!) have an expiration stamp! I will say that baby James was an absolute angel during the whole shoot- she had him in the best swaddle I’ve ever seen. She also had all the newborn soothing essentials including the white noise machine, a nice, toasty room and a baby shusher. If you don’t have one of these it’s a must when you get out and about with your newborn! For the first time all morning my mind was at ease.

By the time she wrapped up it was our turn to shoot as a family. Olivia is at the age where you have to work to get a smile out of her. Needless to say, I’m so in love with every picture. I’ll let them speak for themselves. Thank you Isabel for capturing our first moments as a family of four.

solly wrap

When it comes to baby wraps, I’ll be the first to admit that they can be a little intimidating. After purchasing one with Olivia and never figuring it out, I felt it just wasn’t for me. Luckily I decided to give it one more go and this time went with the Solly Wrap. So thankful I didn’t throw in the towel because the Solly Wrap is as simple as it gets! As a mom of 2 under 2, I use my Solly wrap every single day. Without it I’d get absolutely nothing done. The Solly Wrap is so comfortable and soft (made of a certified Lenzing modal fabric) that you sometimes forget that you have it on (sans baby, of course!). I’ve taken Baby James out and have transferred him to his rock in play many times and have forgotten to take my wrap off! This could have a little something to with having mom brain, too. 😉

I’m in love with all the bright, airy colors of the Solly Wrap’s current Spring line. Since my favorite color is mint green, I had to go with Fern, shown here. I also have it in deep graphite color called Orion. Yes, I now own two of these baby wraps! They have made life as a mom of two so much easier, especially since James likes to be held and needs to be soothed more than Olivia did. I’m all about making the transition as a mom of two as smooth as possible, and this wrap gives me the freedom to tend to both of their needs.

Baby James Sprinkle

I usually don’t share personal things on my blog, but I’m trying to change it up a bit and share more of my ‘real life’.

On Saturday, my sister and mom showered me in the most special way – we celebrated the (soon-to-be arrival) of Baby James. I cannot believe that I’m actually 35 weeks pregnant. This pregnancy has been completely opposite than my pregnancy with Olivia. I had a lot more energy, felt better, was a lot more active and slept better when I was pregnant the first time around. This second time has thrown me for a loop to say the least! That said, I feel so blessed to be able to experience this incredible moment and realize how much of a gift pregnancy truly is. Sharing some of my favorites from the Sprinkle. How adorable are the decorations my sister made?

It’s a…

We couldn’t be more excited to announce that we’re expecting a baby boy in March! Just when I felt I had this girl mom thing down, too. That said, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome our little man in a mere 5 months! Olivia has the sweetest heart so I know they’ll be the best of friends growing up together. We can’t wait to watch her become a loving, big sister. We feel so absolutely blessed to be expecting our little miracle. We found out the gender earlier last week and it’s been so hard keeping it a secret!

I’m so thankful to say that I’ve been feeling well and I’m happy to have graduated from the first trimester. I’ve gradually gotten my energy back, but being pregnant while chasing an one-year-old around is no joke!

Hello, friends!

Let’s be honest… it’s been awhile since I’ve updated the blog. While it’s super lame on my end, I have no excuse other than ‘mom life’. That said, if I’m not constantly updating on here it means I’ve been extremely busy in my real life! However, I do need to get better about posting updates. From here on out, I’ll be updating at least once a week and letting you guys in on what’s been going on over here whether it’s interesting or not… This will include all things fashion-wise, mommy-wise, real-life-wise… you name it! Did I mention we’re about the start the building process? So expect exciting updates on that as well!

Today I’m sharing this beautiful blush lace halter dress from Lily Rain. This look is perfect for a ladies luncheon, wedding guest dress, to wear to your bestie’s baby shower… the options are endless! I dressed it up with my Prada clutch and nude Louboutin’s. If you’re out celebrating in the sun I’m a little jealous– it’s currently storming + flooding in the Houston area. 🙁 So while I’d much rather be sitting by a pool tanning my belly, I’m stuck indoors working on blog stuff. At least I’m being more productive, right?!

With Spring here and Summer already on my mind, it’s no surprise that I’ve been living in dresses that have a lighter, beachy feel to them.

One designer that does just that is Isabel Marant, and I’m loving her more casual Etoile line. With my belly on-growing, I find I’ve been investing in pieces that I’ll be able to wear throughout these next 4 months. This feminine, embroidered dress is a piece that I’ll be able to wear during and after pregnancy. I’m also here to admit that I’ve had a tassel necklace problem for a couple of years now- and how cute is this steal from Anthropologie? I completed my look with my go-to Celine Tote and Jeffrey Campbell peep toe booties. Now if only the sun would come back out in Texas!

First off, I know I’ve been MIA this past month… If you noticed my baby announcement post a few weeks ago you’ll realize that these first few months haven’t been too fun for me! That said, at 17 weeks along I’m finally starting to feel a lot better. So it’s catch-up time for me and what perfect timing– SPRING is here!

Today I’m sharing this adorable, bohemian inspired embroided shift dress. White has been all the rage this Spring, and I’m loving the carefree, easy look of this dress from Lulu’s.
